Soon after my arrival there was a welcoming party organised for the exchange students by the student association of the department of Business. It was great to meet some fellow students!

Flogsta Scream?

Posted by on Oct 7, 2011 in All, Student life, Study abroad | 0 comments

I live in a neighbourhood that is almost entirely populated by students amongst which many exchange students like myself. There are 16 seven-floor buildings like the one I live in, so you can imagine – that is quite many of students. Great thing when it comes to making new friends and corridor parties! Oh yeah, and every building has a sauna on the top floor.

Besides the home of many students, Flogsta is without a doubt the home of one of the weirdest traditions I have known. Since the 70s students have been screaming their guts out every evening at 10 pm. It’s a great stress reliever and a good way to know when it’s 10 o’clock. Great fun :) I decided to film it myself!

Around the City

A short walk through a part of the city centre was enough to feel the cosy atmosphere of Uppsala and get a few quick snaps. The Domkyrka cathedral is the tallest church in Scandinavia, and it dates way back – to the 13th century. Many museums and old university buildings are spread around Uppsala giving it a sense of history and culture. After all Uppsala University is the oldest one in Scandinavia – established in 1477.
