Insurance policy in Holland
Many of you probably are already accepted now to study in Groningen. Many of you have prepared and planned a lot of things before you leave for your exciting study abroad experience. However, I guarantee that many of you still have tonnes of unanswered questions.
In this short segment, I will try to explain something about how to arrange your insurance to cover your health and safety in Groningen. There are two cases, case 1 is if you are European Union and case 2 is if you are non-EU student.
In case 1, you probably have your own insurance backed up by your local government and in most cases is valid throughout European Union member states, I believe it’s called EU Health Insurance Card. You can get it from your insurance company in your own country. Just ask your parents whether you are insured or not. However, don’t forget that EU Health Insurance Card is only valid if your stay abroad is temporary and to be considered temporary is up to your local insurance company. Hold on to it and I am pretty sure you will just be doing all right.
