Visiting the faculty
Arriving a week later than most students, I had missed the majority of kick-off events organised by the Department of Business Studies, so I had to hurry up and get everything I had missed sorted out the first morning. {besps}U2{/besps}
It was nice to see that the whole department was located in large building with a lot of study places and a huge grass area behind it with benches for relaxation during the occasional sunny days. The international officer had a folder with documents and brochures waiting for me. There was even a Swedish sim-card package included. How nice!
The best news, however, was that I could finally use my internet at home, since I needed the user name and password that I just received in order to use it.

Conveniently enough, the Arlanda airport on which I arrived is located between Uppsala and Stockholm and it has its own train terminal. For me and my luggage, this meant a short and convenient 20 minute journey from the Airport to Uppsala central station on a nice double-decker train!
Arriving from direction South, I wasn’t fascinated with the current weather, but such weather is the usual welcome during this time of year in Northern Europe. {besps}U1{/besps}
The next step was to get myself to the student house with the bus and pick up my keys from the housing agency. Arriving on the scene convinced me that I was not any special that day! There was an hour-long cue of international students waiting to pick up their keys and sign their housing contracts! Busy start of the academic year! It was interesting to hear their travel stories, but I was glad to get my key and get some rest!

Hey, everybody! My name is Deyan and besides being a student at the Faculty of Economics and Business I am also one of the editors of FEB-International. I am currently on a one semester exchange in the beautiful town of Uppsala, Sweden. Any student at FEB can go-abroad as I did, so I decided to share my experiences with you, prospective students, and give you a clue what it is like to be on exchange as a student of the FEB!

The Faculty of Economics and Business, fortunately for all students, encourages international exchange and provides range of different options. Every student in FEB, international or Dutch, has the opportunity to go abroad for a certain time (usually one semester) for study exchange or internship.
Every year, students make lots of photos during their study abroad, and some of them participate in the study abroad Photo Contest of FEB.
The University of Groningen, as well as FEB in particular, has partnerships with many universities all over the world – from Canada to New-Zealand, from Norway to South Korea and Taiwan. For us as students, this means that we get to study in any of these universities without having to pay any fees for the foreign university. Scholarships such as Erasmus Mundus and Marco Polo are provided in most cases when students are accepted.
Some study programmes such as the BSc International Business and Management and BSc Economics and Business Economics even have a study abroad period as a compulsory part of their curriculum, ensuring that by the time of graduation students will be equipped with international experience.
In this section you will find our stories and impressions about studying abroad
Melkweg/Kraneweg
The Melkweg/Kraneweg student house is conveniently situated at just a few minutes walking distance from the city centre and close to a nice park. It takes no more than 15 minutes cycling to get to Zernike. It is a relatively small student house, providing accommodation to 46 international students. In the video below you can see what some of the residents of Melkweg/Kraneweg had to say about their experience there.
