Exam Period

Posted by on 5 Nov, 2010 in All, Facilities, Food/Drinks/Fun, Shoping, Student life, Tips and tricks | 0 comments

“It is Sunday morning, 10 o’clock. Streets are deserted and the city experiences a silence like rarely on other moments. No one seems to be up yet when you cycle alone with your bike through the abandoned streets. Then you turn to the Broerstraat and it seems as if the whole student population has been gathered for a party, and as if it is the only street with life”. If that happens to you, you can be sure of one thing: You haven’t missed the greatest event of the year, no, its Exam period, and students are fighting to get a spot in the university library. The exam period takes place four times a year and even students who like to procrastinate, can’t escape. Its those times of the year, where books and articles need to be explored, and you complain about teachers wanting you to study hard, even though you would prefer going out and chilling with your friends.

As of September 2010, the FEB-International has a new Editorial Board. We are all international students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, and we aim to bring interesting and useful information to all International students at the faculty. Our special target audience is the prospective international students, whom we can help and inform through our experiences as students at FEB. We try to look back at the times when we were freshmen and bring all the relevant and practical information to the website. We hope to make the life of international students in Groningen a little better and easier.
Have more questions about how being a student in Groningen is like? Pop your question on the faculty Facebook page and we or our colleagues will answer you.

FEB is very “student friendly” and  specially designed to offer you all the facilities you need in your day by day student activities, providing all the utilities you want in one place.

ESN Introduction week 2010

Posted by on 30 Jun, 2010 in All, Campus/Faculty, Food/Drinks/Fun, Student Associations | 0 comments

Groningen has many great facilities to offer to international students besides the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Science.

There is only one organization that will truly help you to get to know all the good things this city has to offer: ESN Groningen! ESN is a foundation that organizes social and cultural activities for international students. A board and eight committees work very hard to give you the best time in Groningen! Among others, we organize excursions, integration activities, theme parties, International Dinners, a PubQuiz, the Intercambio-program, an International Week, and a Business Congress. And let’s not forget our International Student Night, every Monday night! More information about the activities and a calendar can be found on our website; www.esn-groningen.nl

The first activity you cannot miss out is the Introduction Week. During this week, you will meet your friends for the coming semester! We have organized various activities like a workshop afternoon, dinners, a pub crawl, theme parties, movie night, karaoke, salsa dancing and a sport day. All this for only €25,- (plus €2,- for the ESN card).

The Introduction week will take place from Friday evening the 3th of September untill Wednesday the 8th of September. On the next page, you will find an indication of the program. On Monday till Wednesday, we only have an evening program, so there will be no conflict with your classes during the day.

Sign-up for the Introduction Week will take place on Wednesday the first of September at the Welcoming Ceremony of the University and Thursday the second of September. Come to the Academy building, signs will indicate clearly where you have to go! ESN staff is present all afternoon.

We hope to see you at the Harmony building on Wednesday the first and wish you a great stay in Groningen!

With kind regards

The ESN Groningen board 2009//2010 & 2010//2011

Housewarming Festival

Posted by on 8 Jun, 2010 in All, Campus/Faculty, Food/Drinks/Fun | 0 comments

Over the past years, a lot has been done to modernize and improve the FEB complex of the Rijksuniversiteit of Groningen. On the 4th of June, the new WSN Plaza, and its surroundings were inaugurated with a big festival. The organization committee wanted to create a “Noorderzon Festival atmosphere”, in and outside the WSN building, where one was able to just wander around, explore the new buildings, get some food in the garden, or have a drink at the waterside.
